April 12, 2003 - dotcanuck Web Services Web Hosting Package Enhancement We have made a number of enhancements to our web hosting packages. For SimpleHost Solution, we have more than doubled the available web space to 60 MB, and now allow PHP or Perl/CGI on this package. All our other packages included enhancements, and our Premium Business Solution has been reduced by C$30.00 per month. March 3, 2003 - CIRA CIRA Election CIRA, the .CA registry operator, is now accepting nominations for the Board of Directors. If you are interested, please visit their website for more details. If you want to check your status to see if you are enabled to vote in the election, but do not have your CIRA login information, please visit our Forgot Password page. Enter in your .CA domain name in the form, then submit it. Your password is typically delivered within minutes, but allow up to 24 hours in case there is higher than normal e-mail volume at CIRA. February 20, 2003 - dotcanuck Web Services .INFO and .BIZ Transfer Now Available Transfer functions for .INFO and .BIZ domain names have recently been added, meaning you now have a choice where to renew these domains, just like .CA, .COM, .NET and .ORG. If you have .INFO and .BIZ domain names registered elsewhere you would like to transfer to dotcanuck, then login. Once logged in, select "Transfer Domains" from the menu and complete the form. December 11, 2002 - CIRA Dot-ca Gains Strength Through Growth While Dot-com Shrinks The Canadian Internet Registration Authority has marked its second anniversary with a 500% increase in dot-ca registrations. Click for the complete press release. November 30, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services .CC Domains Available We now offer .CC domain names. November 28, 2002 - CIRA Newfoundland Domain Names As a result of Canada Post's announcement that, effective October 21, 2002, Newfoundland and Labrador will be recognized by the postal symbol NL, CIRA will no longer accept .NF.CA domain name registrations. This change will be implemented as of December 3, 2002. Registrants of existing .NF.CA domain names will be able to keep them and will be able to register the equivalent .NL.CA domain names. November 7, 2002 - CIRA Canada to Host Meeting of World Internet Governing Body The Canadian Internet Registration Authority will be hosting an ICANN meeting in Montreal from June 22nd through 26th, 2003. September 10, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services .NAME Domain Now Available We now offer .NAME domain names at the low introductory price of C$21.95 plus GST for a 1-year registration. The required format for .NAME domains is "first.last.name", i.e. "john.smith.name". To see if your .NAME is available, click for the search form. July 12, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services Name Change in WHOIS Please note that the Registrar Name in the .CA WHOIS database for our clients will be changing soon. The registrar name currently reads dotcanuck Web Services (TransitionalMedia Inc.) and will change to read TransitionalMedia Inc. This change reflects a branding decision by our company, as we are developing new specialty portals for domain name registration, including the recently launched BulkDomain.ca. This change does not affect our customers .CA domain name registrations in any other way: all registration information remains the same, and no action is required. July 10, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services DataHost Solution - Price Reduction We have decreased the cost of our DataHost Solution package by C$10.00 to C$29.95 per month. With this package, you have your choice of a MySQL Database or a PostgreSQL database, and you have the ability to use PHP pages and to execute Perl scripts. Click for details on DataHost package. July 2, 2002 - BulkDomain.ca Website Launch Further to the ongoing commitment of TransitionalMedia Inc. to meet the special needs of its bulk .CA domain name registration clients, we have today launched a completely separate site for this purpose, BulkDomain.ca. Although TransitionalMedia Inc. has been offering very competitive rates for bulk domain name registration clients for some time, clients were limited to the information and tools available at dotcanuck Web Services, a domain registration, web hosting and web services portal targetted to the different needs of small and medium-sized companies and organizations. "We effectively market web hosting, domain name registration and other general web services on dotcanuck Web Services," said TransitionalMedia CEO Paul Holmes, "but we have come to recognize that the needs of these clients are very different than the needs of bulk domain name registration clients. For this reason, we have launched an entirely new site, with new features specifically targetted to bulk registration clients." Initially, BulkDomain.ca will act as a marketing and information site, clearly and separately outlining the prices, terms and providing other pertinent information for bulk registration clients. By late Summer, BulkDomain.ca will launch a completely new domain management system specifically designed to address the needs of bulk registration clients. "We will continue with the tradition of providing all our clients the best possible service for the best possible price, and this is just one more way we are able to achieve this." June 26, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services WebHosting Package Improvements Once again, we have increased the bandwidth and web space for our SimpleHost, HostPlus and DataHost packages. In addition, we have lowered the price of our high end Premium Business Solution package to C$99.95 per month. We have also introduced a new starter hosting package. Our very basic C$9.95 per month Brochure Solution is for the simplest of websites, allowing 5 MB of web space, 1 e-mail address and FTP transfer of website files. Another new option is the WebCard Solution. This is a C$49.95 per year package that provides a simple one-page site in a pre-defined format, and e-mail forwarding. January 28, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services .CA Domain Name Price Reduced On January 28, 2002, we reduced our .CA registration rate to C$24.95, from the previous C$29.95 price. This move follows CIRA's (the .CA registry operator) little publicized reduction in their wholesale fee, which takes effect on February 1st. Our commitment is to provide the best possible service for the lowest possible price. With the reduction in the wholesale rate, we felt it was only appropriate to pass the entire C$5.00 rate reduction directly on to our customers. And to prove our unwavering commitment to a low price point, we have lowered our rates even before we receive any discounts from CIRA. January 7, 2002 - dotcanuck Web Services .CA Registrar Ranking dotanuck Web Services was recently rated against 73 .CA domain name registrars by Canada's Independent .CA Resource. We ranked 2nd Place. Why number 2? Why not number 1? Well, one criteria was the number of votes we received. We did not fair well on this criteria for two reasons: (1) we've never actively encouraged people to vote for us before (as have many of our competitors), and (2) our market share (and therefore customer base) is much smaller than many in the industry. December 3, 2001 - dotcanuck Web Services Enhancement of WebHosting Packages Effective immediately, our most popular WebHosting package, the SimpleHost Solution will include 25 MB of web space and a monthly maximum of 750 MB of bandwidth (instead of the previous 15 MB and 500 MB respectively). The price for the service remains unchanged at C$14.95 per month. In addition, we are now offering the HostPlus Solution, an enhanced package which includes 75 MB of web space and a monthly maximum of 1.5 GB of bandwidth. The price for this new package is C$19.95 per month. All previous SimpleHost Solution clients have been upgraded to the enhanced SimpleHost Solution package. The program may be expanded in the future to include domain registration and other services.
